I'm feed up with the sloppy and expensive sales makers in my local and I'm going to do it myself.I'm planning on making my own boat covers and courtains for the helm area.
Anyone out there that can give me advise and guidance in this venture, I'd like to hear from them.

Merry Christmass Skinny

Skinny -- I've made numerous covers and just finished one for my neighbors utility trailer. Its a simple matter of planning, planning some more, laying out the pattern, measuring several times and then cutting once. The sewing part is easy if you practice on some scrap. You do need a heavy duty sewing machine. Mine is an old Sears Kenmore. Chugs through four layers of heavy vinyl no sweat. Use needles for leather and good quality upholstery thread.

Re: Sewing canvas covers

for some small patches on my canvas I use POWERPRO, one of the new "superbraid" style fishing lines as thread. My repairs are absolutely BULLETPROOF.

This might be less expensive than the polyester thread. A test through a machines needle and carriers would reveal if its usable through a machine setup...

I don't know, but if it works, It'll outlast anything, very tough stuff.
