Even though it measures 17" is that because of the motors used back then were a little shorter than 20" is a 50 hp 4 cylinder merc from the 70's to much for the boat also? thanks

It measures 17 inches. The motor i have is 20 inches thats whats going to make me buy the boat or not. Whats a boat like that worth. needs paint interior and exterior and wood replaced. some fiberglass work in some areas no holes etc. it is a 1973 boat. Could a jack plate be used? or a spacer added. I would like to use the 50 merc i think it weighs about the same as the 40 johnson that is on there from the 60's please let me know thanks

yes the transom has that dip you are talking about in it. I can get the boat for 500 or boat and old motor the 40 for 600 also comes with a pos trailer still a trailer non the less. Whats my best bet to do. I have that cherry mercury 50 hp. I also have a 1994 johnson 35 mp. Manual start, tiller opperated motor also. This one measures like 21-22" I think a 50 would be cool but a little scary for me. What is that link for it had all sorts of boats. I havent seen a 13 ft with a 85 thats just sick. Please let me know what i should do thanks
