Anyone think that what happened toSharon has anything to do with giving up land to the Palestinians? The bible warns against giving up land and dividing Israel. Anyone think this may be a judgement? Just curious. Would love hear Rolmops take on this.

God Speed PM Sharon.

Whatever the Bible says and what actually happens are for us believers to believe. I do.

The rest will be believe what they want to. Even in the end, the non-believers will be given a choice, at the last minute, to proclaim their belief.

One road leads to forever peace, the other leads to forever torment.

We believe in CHOICE, as long it leads to LIFE!

That solves the mystry to me.
I often thought about a man on olden times couldnt read never saw a bible or heard the word, but lived a good life never done bad to another  human, always helped thoes in need. Was he going to hell. the the preacher pointed out that passage to me. We might all yet be saved.

heycods, also, the bible states that God's word (or His Law) is written on your heart. Romans 2:14 to 2:16. This means that when you obey your conscience and follow His law, though you never heard the word of God preached or prostletized, you will be judged as one who has kept the law, whith all the obvious implications.

Re: Sharon, Future of Israel

I'll try to analyze what's happening, but there is not yet enough information because everybody in the Israeli political world is waiting to see who makes the first move.
Sharon's life in the past few months has been extremely tense. It started with the last internal likud election which he won.Right afterwards he was accused of election fraud and just a few days ago his son and main adviser Omri Sharon pleaded guilty to bribery and election fraud.Sharon himself was implicated again in this scandal just 2 days before the stroke hit him.Just a few months ago he headed a very traumatic withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Most of the settlements that were removed were originally set up with Sharon as the chief architect.Knowing that he could no longer control the likud party, which he originally formed,he left the likud and started a new center party only a few weeks ago.In the back ground there are the upcoming elections in Israel(March 28).
Now add to this that Sharon is a 77 year old overweight man who spent a lifetime living on the edge, be it as a general or a politician.
While most people his age slow down,he was speeding up.
As for prophesy I can only say that it is always possible to pull a convenient one out of the bible for any event. There are plenty to choose from. This is done often and the same ones are used over and over again.
It is difficult to predict what will happen now that Sharon is out of the picture. The man temporarily replacing Sharon,Ehud Olmert,is widely seen as the architect behind most of Sharon's current policies, but Sharon's new party has not yet cristalized and it may well fall apart without him.
My guess is that all bets are off until after the March elections

A fundamentalist (regarding Christianity) is someone who doesn't "alter" the word of the bible to suite his own needs. If your going to follow a religion that you believe was divinely inspired, how could you possibly alter it(anything thats not fundamental) and then believe it is from God? It makes no sense to me. If I were to become a practicing christian, I would follow the word of God, not the word of man.

Edit, this reply was to jtxs, a few posts up. Man this thread moves fast!

TLC Sharon had recently formed the Kadima (tranlation "Forward")party which purpose is better than the present parties in Israel. His plans were to take Israel forward. Sadly his health is failing. I would not consider this a judgement. The forming of the new party in itrself is progress.

I fully agree with your closing comment

I agree, I follow what was written, not what was "interpreted".

Religion is an "interpretation". Belief/Faith is just that-nothing more..

No dogma, no religion, no ritual.
