Hey, Thanks for the kind/funny words. She really has not said anything yet so I doubt it's coming. I would sell it to you for $100 & when I get back to work, buy it back for the $100. Only problem with that idea is I'm in Pa. & your in Utah:D . It's under a foot of snow right now so you can almost not even see it anyway. I gotta get all that snow off before it warms up or all that weight will rip my tarp job. Yes, if I'm still out of work when it warms up I will have plenty of time to do the deck replacement I had planned for the winter until I lost my garage spot. Thanks again.

sounds like it's you thinking it not her.

relax, a knee jerk reaction because you lost your job will not help you or your marriage. as said above figure out what your spending, and what your bringing in. find the cuts.

i was laid off for 8 months, girl was still working, she actually arranged her hours so we could have more time for camping/kayaking/fourwheeling. even took a nice vacation to Florida for a week.
most of my friends were waiting for firesale deals on my truck camper and wheelers. never happened.

like minnesota (jmartin)up there we are "investing" in a rolling condo. things go south again, I'm going fishing this time. must be a midwest thing. LOL

you have things you need, you have things you want, and you have things you just have. if you have to dump something start with things you just have.

Confused.

The same amount of weight is on there now, when it warms up it will melt and run off to the ground.

A ton of brick, a ton of feathers, a ton of snow, all weigh the same - a ton.

roscoe, not quite, it's 4 degrees out there right now, the snow is very light & fluffy, easy to shovel. When it warms up to 35/40 degrees it will melt & become water logged & very heavy, very hard to shovel. So it will become heavier as it warms.

What I would do is not be too picky when looking for another job. Stay in the habit of working. Get a job at Wal-mart if you have to. Check out the temporary agencies. Many just sit around and and depression settles on. You might not be able to stay in the same line of work. While you have a job, you can keep looking for a better job. Things are slowly but surely improving. I wouldn't think about the economy or what is happening to anyone else but me so as to keep a positive attitude. Really hard on the mind to take a less paying job and/or retrain but you can't sit around for years waiting on that perfect opportunity. Use keeping the boat as your motivation

Don't ask me why but I was thinking of you and your situation this morning MAXXIE. I was just wondering how you are making out.

I'm hoping that things are well enough that you don't have to start selling off the things you've worked hard for, or worse yet cut into your retirement. This forum cares about it's members and I (we) hope you are doing well with your job situation.

I have to say I have been there and just thinking out of the box will drive some wild thoughts through your mind but getting rid of what you have and what is paid for is a foulish 1st step. You must get back on the horse right now this will help ease your mind and keep you motivated pound the streets and or net for work giving up and not trying isn't an option just hope you get lucky and find something close to what your making but expect to accept 2/3's of that. I was once top dog but now I'm in the process of working my way back up the ladder. Enjoy the boat when you can and can afford to. Good luck

Holy Crap....have I been there! Got downsized out of a good job back in 2000. First thing I did was panic and sell everything that wasn't nailed down. I ended up getting another good job after a couple of months, and all that cash did serve its purpose. Steadily gotten better jobs, (thanks to GOD!!), and gradually getting back to where we were before...or actually better. I wish I had not sold all of it though, I will never get back my '68 Mustang Fastback that my grandad gave me as my first car...and I damn sure didnt get what it was worth when I sold it. Point is...dont panic, keep your Faith, trim the expenses, keep your assets...unless you are starving to death and need food. Heck...I will send you some food! Keep your assets...or you WILL eventually regret it. This too shall pass. :)
