She's almost Breathing Life !!!!!

Im so close to starting my 1977 85 johnson outboard I can taste it I just seem to be missing something. im getting spark good connection battery is hooked to jumper cables got good power getting gas..when she kicks over she blowin smoke. I've put premix down the carbs. I know she wants to start but she's being stubbern.. any idea's anyone ? !!!

New spark plugs?
Did you test spark with a spark tester? should jump 7/16 gap strong.
Carbs clean/rebuilt?
Choke closing?
Fuel pump working well?

Did you test spark with a spark tester? should jump 7/16 gap strong. dont have a spark plug tester but it has good spark

Carbs clean/rebuilt? took carbs out yeterday cleaned inside & out

Choke closing? choke closing 100%

Fuel pump working well? no fuel pump gravity fed fuel lines are clean

Carb throats wet? i.e. getting fuel to main venturi?

Only other thing would be timing.

Fuel, Air - in proper ratio
Spark - at proper moment
All those parts and thats all it takes to run.

I know, I also wish it were that simple.

Timer Base?

A proper spark test is a good idea. You would not believe how easy it is for spark to fail Under Compression. Autozone about $10.

You could have someone spray fuel as you crank, but keep a fire extinguisher handy. Motor backfire bites!
