Re: shetland dory boats
I may be on the wrong track but as I understand it when Dell Quay went to the wall in the eighties Shetland took over the molds for the 13 and 17 foot Dell quay dories. I seem to think they favoured a beige colour gelcoat as opposed to the traditional white and blue that Dell Quay used to turn them out in.
There was a version that had a cabin fitted with a door/hatch that opened onto the front to access the forward cleats. This cabin was not fully enclosed with doors at the rear but would certainly have kept you out of the weather. Shetland produced the boats for a few years then I think they sold out to Fletcher who then produced them.
I think this info is correct as I bought one of the very last 17footers that Dell Quay made and hence followed the design for a few years after to keep a****** of spares.
