Shift Adjustment.

I've followed the manual to the T and can't get this sucker to shift right (out of water).

Would be nice if someone made up a video on the shift adjustment.

On the step where it asks to shift into reverse (RH), and check the interupt switch centered, it's not. The stud is at the bottom. Can I just use the stud as an adjustment too?

Thanks!

Re: Shift Adjustment.

Are you doing this with the engine OFF if so, have someone turn the prop. If the shift dogs are not engaged, it will hold pressure on the cable till the shift dogs engage.

How old is the shift cable? Too old and it will never be right. You can get lucky and adjust it right while out of the water. But you need to put it in the water to do it right.J

Re: Shift Adjustment.

Don S,

Yes this is done with engine OFF. Not sure the age of the cable. I bought the cable when I replaced the drive and trim sender/limit units, but needed a special tool that I did not have to remove it. Sucks.

Don, to get the 6" shift cable adjustment, do I push the shift cable all the way or just until the dogs engage and prop does not turn then adjust the barrel for 6"

thanks
