I'm using this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-s_tgevX2aI to make adjustments for my newly installed CR full sterndrive (upper and lower). It will go into reverse without issue, but forward not very well, lots of clunking and then when it seems to me into gear, I get a thud thud thud sound. It seems like it is not fully engaging. If I press forward on the shifter, it will eventually go fully into gear.
Are there any pointers I need while using that video (it's for R rotation and I'm doing L)? Also, it loots like my travel on the upper shift cable (to remote) is only 2 3/4 inch instead of 3 inches. Can this be a source of the issue ? How hard is that to adjust to get the full 3" travel ?
Setup is 1990 DOral Montecello twin 4.3L mercruisers with mercury drives
