I read Don's post on how the operation of shift interupt switch, which might say was enlighting. So could some tell me how to adjust it and how diffcult is the adjustment. On the lake this weekend I noticed getting the boat in gear was real hard. From what I have read, hard shifting can be because of the interupt is out of adjustment. Any help would be greatfuly appericated.

Re: Shift Cable Adj.

Do you mean it takes a lot of force to move the remote shifter to engage foreward or reverse, or, do you place it in forward and it doesn't engage the drive?

You really need to post some information about what drive, engine, year, etc. you have. If the shift lever is stiff to move both into and out of gear, and the engine runs ok, it has absolutely nothing to do with the shift interrupt system.

Re: Shift Cable Adj.

sorry, My boat is a 1978 Marquis, with a 898 engine, unsure about the outdrive modle just know its a Mercusier. The engine runs real good. It.s just it is very hard to get into gear, no matter if going from netural to fwd, fwd to rev. If its not the shift interupt, any ideas whats the problem and how do I troubleshoot the problem
