Shift Cable end installation

After installing the cable I have a question to the end that attaches to the plate.

The core slides into the platic piece. In the plastic piece is the threaded section where the set screws get installed. How far in does the core go? If I understand it correctly does it stop where the set screws go or does it go all the way through into the next section.

Maybe another way to word this would be, how far from the end do the set screws lock onto the core?

Re: Shift Cable end installation

you should see the end of the core wire bottoming out through the smaller hole "forward" of the set screw hole

snug one set screw, snug the other set screw, then tighten one, then tighten the other

you want even pressure on either side of the core wire

Re: Shift Cable end installation

Thank you. I used a Sierra kit and the metal insert that installs in the plastic end was not drilled out to the size of the core wire on both sides. This didnt allow the core wire all the way through the metal inseert that the set screws get installed into. I drilled it out, now its good. Thanks for the help.
