Recently, I removed the outdrive and did some service. I replaced everything as it was and I noticed I can turn the prop counter cw by hand when the shifter is in forward. The boat is new to me (2003 VP SX-M) and I never checked that before. I have driven the boat and it shifted fine. I followed the instructions in the manual and between neutral and reverse, the cable adjusts 1 5/8" which is more than the required max of 1 3/8". Is this generally due to an old cable that simply needs to be replaced or can I make adjustments at the shifter? Forward to neutral was just a hair over 1 3/8". Although I can turn the drive ccw, it grabs occassionally. I hoping this is just a cable issue and not an outdrive issue. Thanks!
