Trying to replace the shift cable on my 2000 7.4 MPI Merc. Service manual 11 does not show the proper cable routing for 7.4 engines so it's of no use to me.

The Installation manual shows this drawing for 7.4 MAG MPI models (I assume it's also applicable to my engine since the remote control is on the port side as well:
47b7db01b3127cce8492dd88d3eb00000025108CbM27Nyzcg

The installation manual, however does not contain any text to describe the proper routing of the cable, only the drawing above. I searched the service bulletins for the past 15 years and found nothing that helps

Regretably, I did not note the exact routing of the cable when I removed the old one. I'm not 100% sure it was routed properly either since it looked differently than the drawing above and was not an OEM cable so it had obviously been replaced in the past.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This from manual #28

b. 7.4L MPI Models:The cable should route under the starboard rear engine mount
and turn toward the transom between the starboard rear engine mount and the
exhaust pipe.
c. The cable should then route behind the power steering valve and loop over to the
shift plate on the engine and connect to the anchor points on the shift plate.

Thank you so much! That was incredibly quick and it did the trick. I was just not "getting it" by the picture provided. I can't find a working link to manual 28, so I was a bit stuck.
