i believe my shift cut-out switch is in need of adjustment as it seems to be tripping when i hit the throttle any more than softly. i have a new lower shift cable already, although i will be looking at it very closely. anyway, myu question is this, would this cut-out being out of adjustment make it difficult to get the boat into reverse? sometimes when i move the controls into reverse, it takes a few seconds to shift, which makes it fun trying to manuever in tight docks spaces.

sounds like you don't quite have the cable adjusted properly. Check/adjust it on the water.

I agree. The shift interrupt switch simply makes it possible to get OUT of gear - has nothing to do with getting INTO gear. Adjust the cable as per the manual.
