Shift from forward to neutral binding up?

Well we can eliminate the shift interrupter switch. I ran the boat at idle on muffs and engaged the shift interrupter switch. The engine promptly stopped. What's next to check? Linkage?

Time to check and see if it is engaging far enough to work. Here's a pic from the manual:

Will check movement of cutout switch roller and report back.

Well I took boat to local repair shop and sure enough the faulty part was the shift interrupter switch. The bad news is that this older style design part is no longer made and thus not available to order. The GOOD news is that my repair facility still had one in stock (NOS). It was their last one. It fit perfectly and cured my shifting problem w/o the higher cost of a new style switch and additional labor to install. Got real lucky on this one. Thanks to all who posted replies.
