One lead goes to the ignition module, the other to ground.

Re: Shift interrupt switch

Currently in Singapore, on route to Moscow... Not sure when I'll be back home, but I can post one when I am there. The shift interrupter switch is mounted on the shift plate, where the lower shift cable and the control box shift cable come together. It is about 1" by 1 1/2" with a long arm on it with a roller on the end of the arm.

Yeah, if you could post a pic of how it wires up that would be great! I see where the 2 wires come off it, one is connected to a little (looks to be plastic box) but it's just sitting there and I want to make sure I connect the correct wires to right place.

thanks.

Here I go, calling in somemore abuse.
You need a factory manual; and need to read it 4 times.
Everything you need to know is in there.
I go hide now.

I do have a factory manual #6 , it's hard to tell where the wires hook up. I need a basic pic with someone to put arrows on what wires go where.

Yes, he needs a manual, No he doesn't need to read it 4 times. That's rediculous. Look at the manual and familiarize your self with where things are at in the manual and how to use it. Then use (read, study and understand) the sections you need for the job you are trying to do. A manual is just another tool in your tool box............ a very important one if you don't know what you are doing.

Re: Shift interrupt switch

My problem is: mine was not hooked up! The only place it was connected was it was screwed into the shift plate, and I have several wires that go to know where, so I'm trying to figure out what goes where. I'm thinking that it wasn't connected due to the terminal block wouldn'd be able to be mounted because of the engine oil cap being in the way. I would like to be able to mount it somehow--since I don't need to fill oil from that side, I can fill from the other.

And I'll keep reading the manual-- is #6 is the correct one for this problem?

Yes, #6 is the correct one. Do you have the link to it?

Don; 4 times is read, study, understand.
On the water, now time to pull the manual out.
I read mine 4 times, and feel comfortable now.

On the water, no time to pull the manual out.

My guess is his wiring doesn't all fall off while he is out on the water.

Dakota, he has a Mercruiser, your picture is for an OMC. Completely different systems.

Re: Shift interrupt switch

Look at page 1C-44 the pictures show how the switch mounts and the wires go on the little terminal block in your photos. Especially picture #50499

You also need manual #7 for your engine. It includes all the wiring diagrams.
