Shift interrupt

looking for some info on adjusting the shift interrupt on my 2001 5.0 efi. It’s a different style then my 97 5.7

there is basically no required adjustment for correct operation. In neutral the roller or stem is in the center of the V notch. If you are having stalling/shifting problems it`s usually the lower cable thats causing the problem

In addition to what the DOC said the switching works opposite from the 5.7. The ignition circuit is broken on the fuel injected systems when the switch is activated versus going to ground on the 5.7.

Here is the switch, the part with the notch seems to move very slightly when shifting. Boat goes in and out of gear smoothly but the switch does not open. I connected a continuity tester to it and shifted forward and reverse and the switch did not change state

Ayuh,.... It won't,.... unless in the water with a load on the prop, 'n then only comin' Outa gear,.....

If it does, at any other time, the lower shift cable needs replacin',....

So when it’s on the trailer the shift interupt doesn’t function?

correct , never moves without a load on the prop (coming out of gear in the water)

Is this truth for all shift interpret switches (i.e., only interrupting with resistance to the prop and only coming out of gear)? For example, could I apply this same 'truth to my mercruiser 233?
