shift interuptor omc cobra

I put a electronic ignition (replaced points ) ,after two days cannot shift out of gear without killing engine. Shift interuptor bad ? Don"s article excelent!!! When talking to Sierra about replacement part they say that they do not warrenty or recomend using their product on electronic converted ignition Are there any fixes , or do I take the electronic ignition off ?

Did you install Pertronix? If so, the shift interrupter on an OMC won't work anymore.

Pertronix has a fix on their website for this, but you'll need to visit Radio Shack and get a small electronics breadboard and some components (resistor, diode, transistor, I think) to make the "adaptor" you need.

I have one on my '89 OMC, shift interrupter now works flawlessly.

Or you can get the newer style shift interruptor that works with the Pertronix unit.
