Shift Linkage Access 82' Evenrude 70Hp

Need to know the approximate location to access the shift linkage to drop my lower unit. Need to change my water pump and can't seem to release the shift linkage......Does the trim need to be in the up position to access?

Sorry I didn't answer your other thread quick enough. Just looked it up. Info I gave you was for smaller motor. Wrong manual. I will scan and post a pic shortly from the correct manual.

Thanks, I really couldn't read or print it out too clear.Does it look to you like it disconnects in the engine compartment or on the lower unit itself?

It did not scan well. Looks like the connection is under the cowling near where your controls hook in.

6 and 7 are for two different motors. Think 6 was for an inline 4 cyl.<br />
