Shift Linkage Trouble

I have a 59 Johnson Super Seahorse, 35 hp. I undid the shift linkage to replace the water pump but found two problems.

1. There is the no cover or gasket for the window that gives access to the area. Could someone direct me to a place I could find one or to a repair?

2. The metal piece that holds the two sections of the rod together is stripped and won't clamp down anymore. Could someone tell me where I could find of those pieces?

I have searched the internet and cannot find either.

Thank you.

Re: Shift Linkage Trouble

I have a 64 40hp
same thing happened to the brass connector
All i did was turn it upside down and put a thru bolt in the top hole to jion the upper shaft and carefully connect the bottom with the brass bolt.
this might help you out for now.
I know that the connector pice is pretty expencif.
Mine is still holding 2 years now.
As far as that gasket goes if your shafts are stainless who cares.
