I have replaced my old module with a new one from OMC, but the harness has 1 less wire and I have no way to hook up the tachometer. What 2 wires do I splice into to run to the coil? OMC part # 987738 Shift Module Kit.

Re: shift module problems on a 350 chevy

Hi, I haven't had any experience with the 350 shift Module, but I did replace the one in my 4.3(1989. It came with a jumper on one of the connectors and it seemed to me to almost bypass one on the micro swithes...I might check to see if that's really the right part for the job? They are usually pretty good about getting things back to normal on replacement parts like that(I would think?)and if it is I'd look in the manual to see how things were, to compair and see where the tach actually connects. I know on after market car tachs they hook directly to the coil...but I wouldn't assume that's the way boat ones are! Hope this helps and doesn't get you in trouble...

The tach should be connected to the neg. terminal of the coil (gray). Why are you spicing it?

The module should have a purple and a gray wire that connects to the coil. The overstroke switch is not used with the replacement module as it has a timer circuit inside.
