Im replacing the water pump in my 89 yamaha 30 ELF and I need to know how to adjust the shifter rod so it engages the clutch dog properly. There is a locking nut just under the hexagonal barrel nut. I had to back the hex barrel nut off to disconnect so I could drop the lower unit. Now that I need to replace the lower unit, Im not sure how many threads I need to leave showing in order to have the shifter work properly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
