I have a 57' aluminum boat with the shift/speed box and cables and 1961 18hp evinrude.

I am completely baffled about how the cables are supposed to be attached to the motor.
I think I identified correctly the **** cable as one with two identical bolts with a small crossbar at the ends asnd the speed cable as one with the aluminum wire loop at the end. I have no idea how to connect them! Are there parts missing? If yes, which? Where do I find them? It is clear that the cable have to be attached in two pionts each, the pics #5&7 show both places for cable attachments.
Please help!!!
