shift switch problems... any help?

my shift switch isnt being depressed when it's supposed to(shifting out of gear). it didn't have a zip tie on it like it's supposed to. i put one on and still nothing. do the slides wear out? it's on a 91 250 evinrude. i'm waiting for a clymer manual to try to figure it out.anyone ever have this problem?....james

Hammer.... Those shift interrupter switches work extremely fast. If you can get your engine out of gear in the normal fashion, it's working.<br /><br />However, if you have a problem getting the engine out of gear, and everything else (besides the switch) is as it should be, replace the switch.
