I can't seem to upload a picture. The size limit is exceeded. Forgive my ignorance but I'm wondering what the lever at the bottom of the shift/ throttle control is. It's a lever that locks closed. This is an 86 hobie power skiff. I don't think this is the original shift control. My only experience boating is with a small tiller handle outboard. Thanks

Listing the make of the motor would help but it sounds to me like it's the warm up lever that advances the throttle for starting and fast idle.

With out seeing it I would have to agree with Watermann. On the OMC control it is either on the top or the side depending on which box it is.

I believe the box is mounted to the console upside down because the trim buttons are on the outside. It's a 60 hp Johnson. 86 hobie power skiff. Thanks
