Shifting issues

Alpha one with a 250 6cyl was shifting fine but now something odd is going on. Shifts in forward okay then back to neutral fine but when I go to reverse then back to neutral it stays in reverse. Here's what's odd so I go from reverse to neutral I stay in reverse until I shut engine off. Turn it back on and I'm in neutral?? Ideas? I was thinking the cutoff switch but not sure.

possible the shift interrupt switch is faulty but if you can shift from fwd to neu fine then it's most likely operational. verify it kills the ignition by activating it by hand with the engine running and drive in neutral

could be your lower shift cable is worn/misadjusted and needs attention

If I operate the switch by hand it does not kill the engine. Nothing happens at all. Would that be a bad switch?

bad switch or wiring

can test switch with an ohm meter to verify continuity

Ill try that this weekend
