Shimming Outboard For More Trim Range

I have discovered, now that it's running right, that my 90 HP. Evinrude must be run full down on the trim to keep the boat from porpoising.

I know there are shims out there to improve such a situation. I have never used them, nor do I know anything about them.

Ideas?

The wedges are real simple to install. They are spacers that go between the motor and the transom and are thicker at the top than the bottom for negative trim. They can be reversed for more positive trim.

Have you tried a fin yet?

Dhadley,

No fin yet. I'm trying to avoid that-if possible.

Do you recommend anyone in particular as a source?

I believe T&R and T&H both make them. Any of the distributors (Donovans, Lan-N-Sea, Fox, Benrock etc) should have them.

Where are you at?

Dhadley,

I'm in Phoenix, AZ. More than likely, I would have to work with anyone via e-mail or mail.

Dhadley,

I am not familiar with them.

What can you tell me about them?

Any idea how much the shims run $$$?

Also, anything detrimental to look for after installation?

I have a last years catalog from land-N-Sea and they were 35.00. These were made by T&H. Most all marine dealers carry them.

Try www.thmarine.com and search for transom wedges. There is a good photo there.

If you cant find 'em locally, call Bob at Bobs Machine at 800-996-3493. Great guy. Tell him I said howdy. Also www.bobsmachine.com.

Good luck!
