I'm running a 1962 Johnson Super Sea-Horse 40 with Johnson Ship-Master controls. The controls shift hard and now I can only push the throttle up to half. Is there something I can check for myself? Or if I do need to replace do I look for a similar unit or is there a modern version that does the same thing?

Thanks,

Matt

I don't think it matters, but I made an error on the first post. The engine is a 1960.

Matt

How do the cables work when disconnected from motor? On that motor there is a lever on the starboard side of motor that when your in neutral you can only get half throttle. You might make sure that when shifting that the lever is moving on the motor so you can get full throttle. Its kind of hard to explain but if you move shifter at motor you'll see what I'm talking about. Hope this helps
