I will be selling my 100 lbs 1976 9.9 on ebay when I get back from a week of fishing in the Sierra's, yahooooo!

Anyways, what is the best method of shipping this type of motor? UPS, FedEx, Roadway or ? Is it better to crate the motor and add more weight or pad it and box it?

Thanks for your advice.

I've never shipped a motor but I have shipped a lot of heavy telephone equipment. We always used a local company that would come to the site, crate it up and ship it. I'm sure its more expensive that way but if anything happens, its their problem for not crating it properly. Just a thought.

Re: shipping advice needed for johnson 9.9

I work as a shipping supervisor and we ship and receive 1000's of parts a week...Anything weighing 100 lbs or more should be WELL packaged/crated and palletized and shipped with a trucking comapny such as Roadway transport...a little slower then the other methods but it will be handled with forklifts and such that will only make contact with the wood pallet you ship it on,,,,be sure to write on it "do not stack/top load"...fed ex stuff gets piled on, unless the buyer wants it quick, choose the slower more secure method...hope this helps!
