Have had extremely horrible experience with EDIT, Florida. Very unprofessional attitude and still have not received our boat and it has been almost two weeks. Retained Bob EDIT and Cyndi EDIT from EDIT to prep boat for transport including removal and reinstall of fly bridge and ship it from florida to ny. When Bob arrived at marina he was not technically capable of removing bridge as he assured us that he was and agreed to in our contract. He relocated our boat from the sight we purchased it to a local marina he deals with to remove the bridge and is now refusing to ship boat unless we pay additional money far in excess of our contract price. The entire process has been costly and time consuming and is still not resolved. Be very careful with this transporter and make sure you review contract carefully.

Have your lawyer send a registered letter stating that the lawsuit for breach of contract will start at 10 million dollars, and increase a million every 24 hours until you feel vindicated.

I would think that something like that would get thier attention.

Re: Shipping nightmare

I have had those problems to but not with a boat, I had a transformer shipped from California to Kansas with a 3 day delivery. And 3 days later when it didn't arrive the trucking company says its stuck in new Mexico and it will be another xxxx.xx before it can be delivered. So I really feel your pain. And of course I had a contract.

Re: Shipping nightmare

If the load has crossed state lines, there really isn't much you can do. What you are experiencing is perfectly legal, a lawyer is only going to cost you money. I don't remember the details, but once you have a load transported across a state line, there are a different set of rules that kick in. Them holding the load and wanting more money to release it is par for the course.

Re: Shipping nightmare

Once I locate which marina my boat is located in Jacksonville I plan on hiring a captain to drive the boat to new york. Does anyone have any contacts of a reputable captain that maybe available. I'll let my lawyer and the courts deal with the other shipper I can't let the things I have no control over me get me down.

Thanks,
Rob

Re: Shipping nightmare

If you are going to now ship the boat under its own power, why not take a few days off and be your own captain?

Did they really want that much extra, 4 digit number?
10,000# load LA to let's say Dodge City, KS barely comes to $1,000 according to my calculations, and it's with $50,000 carrier liability included. Or was that an oversized load? You really need to know who you are dealing with...

Customer needs a Contract and original Bill Of Lading, may want to get their own insurance in some instances, that's it.
Whatever happens between lading and unlading points is trucker's responsibility.

Wonderful choice. It is a trip you will remember forever. Get a lot of instruction from the captain.
