Sounds like it. Sorry to hear all the bad news.

My baby girl has pneumonia right now. Haven't slept in about 4 days. Breathing treatments every four hours, steroids, antibiotics... my wife's outta town....

Sorry to offend. I didn't mean to make a big scene up here. I save that for the cellar. I was just concerned about my motor.

Re: shoot the mechanic

Ever wonder how many mechanics have complained about owner/operators (O/O)?
You see a mechanic, a problem occurs, "Shoot the mechanic."
Mechanics see hundreds of O/O's, ALL OF THEM ARE TRUTHFUL!
How many times does a mechanic hear from an O/O, "I don't know how that happened!"
Mechanics don't get paid the shop's flat rate, far less.
But, put a smile on your face, the customer is always right.
Owner/Operator persons,
they don't call them OOP's for nothing!

Face it... we are ALL equal opportunists when it comes to making mistakes... except for me of course... Once I thought I made a mistake... but I was mistaken.

Don I truly empathize... have walked your shoes more than I care with friends, my dad and cancer. :'(

Re: shoot the mechanic

I am very sorry I ever posted this.

I was looking for some mechanical advice and one misplaced comment made in frustration derailed the whole thing.

My apologies to all of the mechanics I offended.

Re: shoot the mechanic

Rubberfrog--to address your initial concerns--it has to get cold enough to freeze the water in your block SOLID in order to crack it and the chances are it would have pushed out a freeze plug first anyway so you would have known something was up as soon as you started it. It typically needs to be in the 20's for a couple of days straight with no let up over 32 to freeze anywhere even close to solid enough to break anything. If you don't have any external leaks and no milky oil, I wouldn't sweat it. My opinion of course.

Re: shoot the mechanic

i broke something at work one time whilest fixing something else. i had to go the boss and tell him i'd been out making mistakes. he said. well, if ya aint making mistakes, ya aint doing nothing. i always liked that notion. as it does seem to be true. least for me. since yer mech is good on your list rf. he'll probably stand behind his work. even though he possibly made a mistake. it'd be the only reputable thing for him to do.......good luck. and my condolances to those that are having real bad days....i hate them kinda days..........

DON'T always shoot the mechanic

DON'T always shoot the mechanic

Now come on guys.........If the mechanic admits the mistake and makes it good then no harm, no foul!!

It's when you know they did it and they know they did it (and they know you know!!!) That's when you start shooting (figuratively) !!!

When my brother had this Liberator of mine he took it to a Four Winns DEALER to get yearly service.

They changed the drive oil. ....... well they drained the drive oil....AND didn't bother put new oil back in. My brother made it about 1/2 way around the lake before the boat slowed down and stopped with steam around the out drive!!!

The following year he took it to another (different) dealer and they filled the drive incorrectly. He made it only a little further around the lake this time.

BOTH times each dealer replaced the drive. Everyone makes mistakes.... (Even I make mistakes!!!...I bought this boat didn't I?)

Don't be hard on the guys that admit their mistakes!!

Cheers,

Rick

Don,

The only thing I know (really) about you is you seem to be a gentleman.

My thoughts are with you as you are going thru this.

Re: shoot the mechanic

This reminds me of Shakespeare's saying "The first thing we do is shoot all the lawyers."

Not meant to be taken literally!
