Shop charges to install DF/GPS

I'm curious what I should budget to install a new DF and Transd in a 17.5 boat, it already has a simular unit. whats seems a fair price.

Too many variables to give an estimate. Some are very easy to install and others can be a bear.

Thanks, it's the typical Marine industry always hiding behind closed doors, I asked a shop once why they closed off the windows that looked into the shop...he said he had trade secrets on how he did things, that must be case here.

you know that every boat is built differently, it really is impossible, to give an estimate until they look at the boat. routing cables, power etc, can be difficult.

as far as windows, it actually distracts the workers, seeing what is going on in front.

Installing and repairing things is not a mystery.
Many mechanics find it irritating to have a customer looking over their shoulder while working.
