where can I get a GOOD manual specific to a 1986 merc outboard 175 HP?

I have one that cover ALOT of years and is just "OK"

anyone have have a suggestion?

Check E-Bay for a Mercury OEM manual. They are made listing the engine serial numbers covered. If non there you might still be able to buy on from MercuryExpress.Com. Not cheap, but well worth it if you are doing your own maintance.
