Shore Power extension cord

I keep my boat in a slip that has shore power available. I am actually paying for it.<br /><br />My boat doesn't have the Shore Power hookup. I was wandering if there is a way I can utilize the AC power without installing a complete shore power package. I just need an extension cord with a standard 110V receptacle on one end.<br /><br />Does anybody make this, or do I have to make my own?<br /><br />I just want to run a radio when at the boat and charge my batteries while I am at the boat. I am not looking for a permanent hook up that I can leave running unattended, just a simple solution to utilize the AC power.<br /><br />Thanks for your ideas and advice.

Howdy, FNG.<br /><br />I've read you post a dozen times and I haven't been able to figure out what your question is.<br /><br />Yes, you need and extension cord.. .a very heavy duty outdoor rated extension cord. Then you need a strong battery charger. One of those permanent onboard mount units sounds good. <br /><br />Then, when you go to your boat, plug it in and run your 12v appliances etc. while the battery(s) charge.<br /><br />Good luck.

Maybe I am missing something basic, but...<br /><br /> The Shore Power extension cords have a three prong connector designed specifically to plug into a boats equipped shore power hook up.<br /><br /> My little boat isn't equipped with the onboard Shore power receptacle and outlet.<br /><br /> I was wandering if there is a cheap and easy way of utilizing my dock side A/C power without a permanent hook up in my boat. My dealer gave me an estimate of over $500 to equip my boat with the necessary plugs, circuit breakers, and power input panels all grounded to my thru hull.<br /><br /> I just want to plug in my Boom Box and an automotive type home battery charger.<br /><br />My question is ...what are my options on doing this the cheapest way.

You can make your own, buy the end that goes to dock side elect. box and a short yellow three wire cable and connect the other end to a plug that takes the normal 110 plug. I make one about five yrs ago and it works great for power tools, radios, tvs or any other 110 items you want. I think all the parts were about $20.oo.
