Shore Power Question

Seems like when I bought my boat and plugged into the shore power the green polarity light came on when connected. After taking the boat out a few times, I noticed that when I plugged in the shore power cable, instead of the green polarity coming on the red light (reverse polarity) was on. There are two 110v plugs i can plug my cable into at the dock. Thinking it might be something happened there I reversed one set of wires to the shore plug. Doesn't seem to matter which shore plug I am plugged into i get the red reverse polarity light coming on. Checked the port where the shore cable plugs into the boat, and made sure it was wired correctly. Could something have happened to the cable itself? seems weird, and it can only connect to the boat plug one way due to the shape of the male leads going into the plug. the screw cap holding it secure to the boat was tight, but when i had a friend wiggle the cable it would go back and forth between green and red. Any thoughts??

Re: Shore Power Question

Possible that the connection on your boat for the shore power cable is loose inside. It should not wiggle when screwed down tightly.
