I'm open to any comments from anyone's experience with this kind of trailer. I can't get any number off of it but it may original to a '64 boat (early). It is a heavy duty version (I think) because the boat is about 2200lbs.
thanks:)

Pretty sure I have the exact same trailer as you. What do you want to know about it? I can take a pic of the plate on the side of the tongue this afternoon if you want.

As far as comments about the trailer go, it's been a fine trailer for what it is. I added 10" Kodiak surge disc brakes & Titan coupler a couple years ago. Also replaced the incandescent brake lights with LEDs which are a world of difference. My springs & axle are probably due for replacement soon. I think my trailer is from the late 70's (1977-1980).

My biggest complaint with it is that it's a tilt trailer & not a drive-on. I never use the tilt mechanism because I have the brake line running through the tongue. Because it's a tilt trailer, it's incredibly hard (almost impossible) to successfully drive on to it at the ramp. I can get about 2/3rds of the way on before I have to jump out & finish pulling it on with the winch. If I try to drive it all the way up I consistently get off-center on the tiny front roller and gouge my hull on the bracket. I'd much prefer an actual drive-on trailer personally, but it's what came for free with my free boat :) Also, as a tilt trailer it sits a bit high compared to a drive-on trailer that cradles the boat a bit lower between the wheels so I requires going deeper at the ramp to get the boat on without using the tilt mechanism.

Thanks. That's good information to know. I was hoping to float the wood boat off the trailer rather than having to use the tilt. What is the load capacity of yours? The trailer frame bevels down in the center which seems to make it well suited for a V hull.

Here's a pic I just took. Didn't come out great because it's dark out now, but you can mostly make it out. I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow if I remember.

Looks like with a single axle & 13" 6-ply tires it's good for 2680 lbs (that's how I run it).

Thanks. I can read it. Looks like it's the tires that make all the difference. The trailer and single axle can go all the way up to 4000lbs if you spend the money on the tires.. The winch mast looks a little feeble to me for a 2300lb boat though.

Agreed. There's a big difference between bow posts on our two trailers. I assume thats due to mine being 10+ yrs newer.
