short or long shaft??

I am looking to buy a 1977 merc 700 and don't know if it is a short or long shaft (20 inch transom on my boat), serial number is 4716625. anyone know?

There is no way to tell by the serial number but the engine should measure 21" from the inside of the clamp bracket to the cavitation plate to be a long shaft.
