Short term case of MBS. Just scored on another Super Sport

Saw a Craigslist ad for a "16' Starcraft". Texted the seller first thing in the morning(I saw the ad later at night)...for a couple pics. Seller said he had a guy coming at 11am and he would let me know after that.

I texted back...."I'll take, for the price your asking". Tell the other guy not to come. Seller said, "OK". I drove 90 mins to the seller.

It's a 1973 16' Supersport with 85hp Evinrude(runs, but won't accelerate well on the water according to seller). Came with an older trolling motor, battery, gas can, swim ladder, and a new tarp.

The price?..................only $500 buckaroos!

Going to try and flip her for a tidy profit.

Seller doesn't live near any big water. He uses a 14' tinny with a 10hp motor. Said that the SS was too much boat for where he fishes.

I spent an hour cleaning the boat up. Some Clorox-type cleaning spray and a scrub brush got her looking good in no time. I hosed her out after all of the scrubbing. Fortunately, it has a vinyl floor.

No idea why there are so many holes in the bow. Haven't bothered running the motor yet....going fishing today, so the motor will have to wait.

I put the boat out front with a $1450 price tag on it. I normally get a lot of interest when i put something out front for sale, so maybe I'll get a "bite" on it soon.

I'm def stealing the trailer for my boat. It's a single axle....and its a tad longer than my current trailer. I'm going to bring both boats to the lake...to make switching trailers easy.

BA - I think she's a keeper. Not bad, not bad at all for $500. Too bad a PO didn't know you shoot ducks as they fly by, not in the water in front of the boat. :joyous:

Time to sell, remove everything.

great find..I like that chrome horn on the bow..I know you said it has a vinyl floor but if it had been indoor/outdoor marine carpet..
would the Clorox take the color out ...bad news for marine carpet???

I already stole the horn for my boat. :lol:

Clorox probably wouldn't play nice with any carpet.

Update:

Sold the boat/motor for $1300 this morning.

I'm swapping trailers before the buyer takes possession, so I ended up with a better trailer for my boat....and an $800 profit. Yippee!

Started the process of transferring stuff from my current trailer to this one(that I'm keeping). Got the guide-on rails mounted. I stripped out all of the existing wiring and replaced it all with a set of LED trailer and side marker lights from Wally World. Cost $48.99 for the main lights and $7.49 each for the marker lights.

The trailer I'm keeping has vertical bunk brackets(see pic above)....and my other trailer has newly installed horizontal brackets. Vertical bunks should make unloading the boat easier, but horizontal give more hull support.

I'll go through the hassle of swapping the bunks/brackets if the horizontal config is much better. Just don't want to do it, if the advantages are negligible.
