There should be only one party.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
That leaves only one.
Next problem.
Twelve, I just knew you would see it my way! ;)

Nope, there is a place for both parties. Just like raising a child is best done by a mother and a father.

What if there were two mommies or two daddys?
Would it still work? d:)

By JB;
When I think about it I think two parties are not nearly enough.

And I'd like to see true political televised debates by the front runners of the top 5 political partys.
Not the song and dance that they have now with the current (dysfunctional) two partys.

Ok here’s my spin on the Democrats, I’ll let somebody else them work over the Republicans.

During the new deal and up through the early part of the great society, the Democrats practiced a different brand of liberalism quite different from now. They had a common purpose.

Harry Truman used the common purpose to help the rest of the world, with the Marshall Plan, after the War creating NATO; he went out of his way to rag on his fellow Americans to understand that they were a part of the world, and not just a part of North America. They all had a common purpose.

President Kennedy ask Americans to sacrifice for a common good, through the - the Peace Corps, and of course - and through things that has made less obvious (his insistence that victory in the Cold War could be truly achieved only through improvement at home, which would require sacrifice and civic engagement).

He also asked Americans to sacrifice for a common good, again his insistence that victory in the Cold War could be achieved only through improvement at home, which would require sacrifice and a common goal. It definitely sought to expand tights and prosperity, it was built around the philosophy of “Ask Not What You’re Country Can Do For You But What You Can Do For Your Country”. To work for a greater common goal.

Now we come to the great society. Most people think that is the start of today’s liberalism, in my opinion they’re partially right.

President Johnson’s Great Society until Vietnam, had a common goal just ask the people that it helped get there civil Rights from the civil Right Act of 1964.a whole lot of Americans can say that these words “I am about to sign into law the Civil Rights Act of 1964. I want to take this occasion to talk to you about what that law means to every American.” Not black people. Not Southerners. Not even “our nation.” Every American.” achieved a common goal.

I believe the demise of the old Democratic Party started in the sixties, with the groups like Student for a Democratic Society, student non-violent coordinating committee and a few others. A lot of that group evolved into today’s Democratic Politicians, or political operatives.

The sixties gave way to the seventies, and a new group of social programs, busing being the most prominent. These programs were being pursued not because they would be good for Americans but because they would expand the rights of some. Not for the common good. Democrats and the American public were now asking many people to sacrifice for a greater good of which they were not a part.

And along came President Carter, and inflation, crime, and the Iranian hostage crises, add to that the Democrats losing focus of what got them to the dance in the first place (common purpose)(common good) and replaced it with, party first and the American public be dammed.

I’m starting to see this trait in all politics, including the Republicans, so it is not exclusive to any one party. Loosing the ideas that they are there to represent the people, rather the party. (IE common good) common purpose)

This is for the party that I campaigned for the last election anybody want me to start on the Republicans ?

Oh gosh no, we need liberals. If we didn't have liberals then we wouldn't be able to say our own American blood hated our country.

Should America have one governing party?

Sure! But which one?

That alone will keep us tied up in our underwear for decades.

Government gridlock is a good thing, for the citizen.
