still helping my frient project 1978 tiera jasper 350

first the engine runs fine. after the mechanic puts a new bellows booth put the boat in the water we still have a leak, water is coming in through the transom area, the helper guy who work in the marinea told us that the same problem the v other owner has with it that why he leave it and never return.

so my ?? is when installing the bellows booth should one use like a silocone ect??

should the shift cable booth use a clamp at both ends because i only saw one clamp on the larger end, the hose that bring the water from the impeller has a big bend on it that will def kill water flow.

almost forget, what will cause a boat to sits leaning to one side with no loat on it? no one on board,

1: Some say no, but I say yes, mainly because mercruiser makes a thing called "Bellows adhesive".2 Yes again, and water can get in through the transom because it's missing a clamp. However, this may or may not be the cause of your water intrusion. Two batteries on one side? Foam that is saturated on one side? One gas tank is more full than the other?.....JK

Bad transom seal from a hard strike
bad shift cable boot
water inlet sleeve cracked/loose.
corrosion hole thru transom housing
corroded hole in exaust "Y" pipe
corroded away trim/tilt wiring thru the grommet. once the wires disolve the rubber bushing will leak.

Bellows adhesive is necessary when replacing bellows.I dont think it is to stop it from leaking but to keep the bellows from sliding off when the drive is tilted up all the way.Or if the clamp ever fails.Adhesive is also necessary for the large O gasket that seals the top of the drive to the bellhousing. If that large oring/gasket moves when the drive is installed,it will leak.Charlie
