Should have been checked?

I just had some work done on my motor and they replaced the water pump among other things. Basically I had them give it a once-over. Carbs, fuel pumps, etc. Now while sitting in my garage I see some oil draining from the front of the prop. I am guessing the seal needs replaced. I asked and they said they did not pressure test the LU. Is this something they should have done in the process of replacing the water pump?

I would say No. Take it back to them and ask them to pressure check it.
If they are good guys they will do it for free.

Pressure check is normally not part of the job. Does it continuously drip or just a little then quit? If just a little it may just be unburnt fuel.

I don't see it dripping, or even see drips forming, but there is a puddle the size of a CD below it that looks like fresh motor oil. I moved the boat and the leak moved too.

Now, here's why I am questioning whats happening. I just had this motor put on the boat, and it has not been in the water since I owned it. It's just been idling at the shop and my garage with muffs on. I can't check to see if there is water in the oil.

Would it likely be a problem if I made sure the LU is full, and ran the boat a little while, and then check for water or milky lube, or should I do it in a barrel in my garage?

I'd go ahead and have it pressure tested to be sure. It would probably be okay to run it a little then check the condition of the lube, but why take the chance? Should cost you very little to nothing to have them do it.

Is the oil dripping out of the Prop, or dripping down the skeg? That will answer your problem.
