should i buy a 1992 force 50 hp or a 1985 johnson 50 hp?

is the 1985 johnson 50 hp a better choice over the 1992 force 50 hp? which one is more reliable? im kind of worried about the johnson from 1985 just because it is so old. which outboard has more parts?

You will have a much easier time finding parts and service for the Johnny, Shannon.<br /><br />Well cared for outboards are not "old" at 20 years, poorly maintained outboards are "old" at 10 years.<br /><br />Moving this to General Outboard.<br /><br />Good luck.

Shannon - Force motors were not known to be very reliable when they were made. They went out of business a number of years ago and parts are getting hard to find. Many years ago I had a Force 50. I remember a factory Force mechanic telling me that outside of the powerhead it wasn't a bad motor.
