Should i buy an operators guide or a service manual or both?

i have a 2004 25HP johnson and i was just curious what the main difference is between the operators guide and service manual. i assume that the operator guide is just basic motor info and how to run it and the service manual is about performing repairs, but the operators guide is only bout $30 whereas the service manual is $70. Is it worth getting both or does the service manual also cover what is in the operators guide?

You can find the Operators guide at www.evinrude.com it is free they have them online for 2004 - 2007 Johnsons

For the Service Manual you can find them on ebay or go to http://www.marineengine.com/parts/parts.php#manuals and order from them. Marine Engine will cost a little more but you are will get a new service manual shipped priority post. You will want the service manual if you are planning to work on your outboard.

I would not pay 70.00 for a service manual unless I was desperate. I normally do a search on Ebay, save the search and then when one becomes available at a good Buy It Now price I buy it. If I need it quicker there is a seller called "searayman" who sells a lot of manuals at (IMO) fair prices. Best of luck. Rick.

man you guys are the best...printed operators manual off of internet and found my service manual on ebay for 38 bucks thanks alot God Bless

It's not our purpose to "save" you money. We just don't want to see you waste any that could be better spent on your motor. With money you saved you should get yourself a new impeller. LOL. Rick.
