That's what is written on my policy. They will cover up to $9,000, including the engine. I am doing nothing that could be considered "shady". As only asking if i should file a claim or not. Wondering what was meant by engine coverage. I wouldn't expect my insurance to cover anything wrong with my vehicle engine, but it specifically states engine coverage on my boat policy... IMO, that means if something happens to the engine, it should be covered. I get it now, if there was a fire or something of that sort. As far as the "scratch", it's more than just a scratch. It's a deep gouge. I was questioning whether they would need to redo the whole boat in order to match the color.

You should probably have a discussion with your insurance agent regarding the types of incidents that are covered, as you seem to be a bit unclear about 'damage' or 'perils' versus 'maintenance'. It would be doubtful that maintenance issues are covered.

I think that your approach of thinking that an insurance claim is/was an opportunity to get a bunch of things fixed got some folks on the forum fired up a bit.

If you are on your first year of a policy and if your claims outweigh your premiums paid, it sort of puts you on a short list. Your insurance agent would be best to guide you on that question.
