I have a 97 evinrude 115. E115eleua, it has a remanufactured powerhead, 40-50 hours on it now. I noticed that the more broken in I have it the louder I've been hearing the carbs.

Watch this video, towards the end I take the upper cowling off. I'm assuming it's okay but I'd rather be safe then sorry, it's starting to run lean(with no adjustments to the carbs since the remanufactured block was put on,) and I've evidently been putting 2 fl oz of oil less then it calls for, pint of oil per 6 gallons of gas. I don't trust the vro. Long story how I learned that I put less in it, it bogs down only if I gun it very quickly, which is needed if you try to fling your wife good off an inner tube!! other then that it runs strong as it ever has.

I can later. You couldn't hear them when I took the upper cowling off? It's right at the end of the video

It's tight, and it hasno obstructions in it, BUT, I've always had gas from all 4 carb throats seeping into the airbox, and then rolls to the bottom part of the cowling, and the shop told me it's fine and normal..

But they also told me, after they replaced the fuel pump and everything else, that the company who did the reman powerhead(obr) said they had put a starboard piston in a port spot, and vise versa, when it had all the symptoms of a new defective fuel pump

Face it, carburetors and the reed valves ahead of it are very noisy. That's why they put a silencer on it. The motor cover is a second silencer.

They will run and idle just no mid and top end with pistons swapped. Did OBR repair it or that shoddy shop you used fix it. If they swapped it without OBR's ok you/they voided the warranty.

It wouldn't run at all lol, obr sent another powerhead. They said the walls were scored. The only way that motor ran at that time was if you constantly primed the bulb. Before they "discovered" that issue they told me they jusy started throwing parts at it, and right at the end it ran great again with a new powerpack. I drive an hour and a half to pick it up(prices were much cheaper then shop 15
Minutes from here, and when I got there they said it started messing up again
