I have a 1977 johnson 140. It broke a ring and scored up a cylinder and head. I know it needs a full rebuild, possibly 1 new head and of course a hone, or bored at a machine shop. A rebuild kit is $850, plus im guessing a couple hundred to machine the block... letsa say im $1200 into it. Now i have a brand new motor that will last a while.
If i buy newer im rolling the dice on condition, or spending $8000+ on a brand new...
I know its an old motor but is it worth it to fix? I will do the job so labor isnt factored into my budget.
