I am restoring my 1987 McKey craft Southporter and plan to start to paint it in October or so. The non skid areas of the deck will be painted a different color. I will be using a Grip Tex like product that will be broadcast spreaded with a "salt shaker" method over the taped off areas. Interlux and Pettit Paint both suggest to adding a flating agent to reduce the gloss on the deck to reduce glare from the sun. A new boat with new glossy gel coat doesn"t have a reduced gloss over it's non skid areas. Has anyone out there ever paint their deck and regreted not using a flating agent? I am considering to not using a flating agent. That way the deck will have a cosistant gloss. Will I regret this?
