I purchased a used 1994 200hp Johnson from a dealer. I did the laymans survey and looked under the cowling and it looked extremely clean. No corrosion the powerhead looked pretty new. Compression all even. Brought it in for some maintenance, and the mechanic informs me that the powerhead on this motor is from an older year model. Been rebuilt, I believe he said something like an 89 or so. Runs smooth but it does have a water leak at the top of the lower unit or maybe I should say at the base of the powerhead. No water is getting inside the cowling it's on the outside. If that makes sense. Anyways, the mechanic told me not to worry about it. Like I said, it runs fine and I've probably put 10 hours on it since I bought it with no problems. Any opinions out there?
