Should new transom wood go all the way to the hull?

I'm putting in a new transom and was curious whether or not to make it go either all the way to the hull or leave an 1/8" gap to be filled with thickened resin like you do with stringers?

It really does not matter one way or another.

If you have some gaps here and there .. no problem

If your wood meets the glass..no problem.

Its kinda hard to get that 'Perfect' fit so dont waste time trying to get it like a glove :) .

Thanks guys. I've managed to get a template cut out which is near enough the right shape give or take 1/8" - 1/4" round the stringer areas :)
