.
OK new question, from what I have heard in this this thread here a new 4.3 with the fuel injection is more powerful or the same as my 5.0 with the carb? Now are they kicking out the same footpounds of Torque? Wouldn't the V8 do better there and wouldn't that make the 5.0 carbed better than the 4.3 fuel injected?
I don't know if the mpi 4.3 makes more torque than a 5.0 with a carburetor. I would still give it the advantage if they were in exactly the same hull. Carburetors don't give as smooth throttle response on take off as mpi would. Carbs can hesitate sometimes mpi wont. Slight weight advantage for the 4.3. It also boasts less rotational mass. Even if it doesn't makes as much torque as a carb 5.0 it will deliver it quicker and smoother.
Top speed will be better too. Check out the link below. You can choose different models with different engines and calc speed. If you pick their 200c model you can select a good range of engines. The 4.3 mpi beats the carb 5.0, the mpi 5.0 beats the mpi 4.3 engine. The difference from the new engines to older ones is vortec heads. They make a huge difference and are a great upgrade for the older vintage engines. Hole shot and top speed would improve. Here is the link:
