I understand that, its just that there is probably a little more in his boat than he is getting with his present set-up. Factory set ups mean absolutly nothing, but occationally they get it just right.

If he is telling us the truth, and I have no reason to think he isnt, that boat with the 90HP on it is probably about as fast as its going to get. Im actually surprised he is getting that amount of speed.

It just all depends on a bunch of things and how much time and effort he is willing to put into it. To some getting the most out of there boats isnt worth it, "Lets just use the boat"! To others like Walleyehed and I Its different. We want the most we can get and it seems to never end. We are all differnt and differnt things mean different things to all of us.

sorry guys been out of state for a week. hey i saw snow up-state NY. nice pic ld, thats my boat same color. that motor in the pic is a little skimpy. thats why i got the bigest (legally). with my small boat i'm looking for speed. just bought a stilleto prop same pitch as my alum. hey ld i can still raise the motor 2 more holes but i'm worried about chine walking. that can get hairy..that 55mph was on my brothers gps with a light boat just me in it

In the speed range you are at, If you have any chinewalk you can get away from it by raising the engine one hole at a time and checking it. Your new prop will be better also by raising the engine.

Just to explain a bit why it will help to raise the engine. Chinewalk is the boat rocking back and forth from side to side from one strake to the other. By raising the engine, the boat will be lower in the water and will not rock. With very high powered boats, the boat can get so far back ob the "PAD", that it cant be stopped and can get very violent. Even to the point of losing control.

thanks ld

the new prop works great! i was concerned about the vent holes on the new prop. the rpm's are still at 5500. it's not at part throttle any more to keep it under the rated rpm. on plane though my bow runs higher in the water, i guess if i raise the motor it will lower (sit lower on the pad) need to get a cherrie picker to support it though.

The vent holes are for hole shot, did they help? Some props are bow lifters, others ar stern lifters. what is you Top speed now, and are you having any chinewalk issues?

Re: Should say Tracker, Nitro!!

no chine walk anymore with the new prop. the hole shot is ok. i dont know the speed cause i used my brothers gps he will be here this weekend to help lift my motor up. i actually have 3 more positions i can raise it. don't think i will do any fishing this weekend, a nasty cold front moved through, usually shuts fishing down. its a good chance to set the boat up. it feels a little faster though. i don't think the prop has anything to do with chinewalking. i noticed the motor would not trim up past a certain point. i tried to get the prop to cavitate. (you know rooster tail) i will check the fluid level in the trim resivior. i realy think i need to raise the motor the prop will not even come close to cavitating

I bought a new Nitro in 1992.It was Nitro then not Tracker. The Trackers were aluminum boats.

Re: Should say Tracker, Nitro!!

I have an 88 tracker FS. It does about 60 GPS with half a tank of gas, all the batterys and stuff. Also, I just discovered that much of the foam in the floor is wet, so she's pretty heavy.

The engine is a 150 XR4, set back 6 inches, and raised to just before it pierces the surface, or loses water pressure. The high five prop throws a pretty good roost to get the bow up where you need it for a decent ride. It has a neck snapping hole shot for sure.

I think the tracker was the early Nitro. They got away with trying to appease mom and made a real bass boat with the Nitro. They also made some improvements in aft floatation so it isn't so prone to taking in the back wave if you're not careful coming off plane.
